NEUROMODULATORS

Facial Neuromodulation: Baby Botox, Upper Third, and Gingival Smile

Botulinum toxin has been the most studied and widely used substance in aesthetic medicine for more than three decades. It selectively and temporarily relaxes the facial muscles, allowing us to correct expression lines, prevent dynamic aging, and balance facial features with a precision that no other treatment can match. At Skin Laundry, we apply it with a clear goal in mind: natural-looking results, preserved facial expression, and a face that remains uniquely yours.

Baby Botox

Baby Botox isn't a different substance, but rather a way of administering it: lower doses, distributed across more points, to smooth out wrinkles and prevent their appearance without paralyzing the muscles or losing facial mobility. The result is smoother, more rested-looking skin that preserves the natural look of your facial expressions.

This is the ideal technique if you're new to neuromodulation, if you prioritize a natural look above all else, or as a maintenance treatment for younger patients seeking to prevent wrinkles without excessive intervention. It's also a good option for areas where complete paralysis would look unnatural, such as crow's feet or the forehead on very expressive faces.

The upper third of the face (forehead, glabellar region, and periorbital area) is where neuromodulation has the greatest impact and the best track record of results. Horizontal forehead wrinkles, vertical glabellar lines, and crow’s feet are a direct result of repeated muscle activity over the years.

The treatment precisely relaxes the affected muscles, smooths out existing wrinkles, and prevents them from deepening. When applied correctly, it does not result in a “frozen” forehead, but rather a smoother forehead, a more open gaze, and a more rested appearance. For eyes where the outer corners of the eyebrows have drooped over time, it also allows us to achieve a slight lifting effect that opens up the eyes.

A gummy smile is one in which, when smiling, a strip of upper gum is exposed that is perceived as excessive. In many cases, this has nothing to do with the structure of the teeth, but rather with overactivity of the muscle that raises the upper lip. A small dose administered at the correct point limits this elevation without affecting the expressiveness of the smile. The result is a more balanced smile, where the teeth take center stage without the distraction of excess gum tissue. It is a quick, discreet procedure that requires no recovery time.

MESOTOX combines microdoses of a neuromodulator distributed throughout the face, similar to facial mesotherapy. It is particularly recommended for skin with rosacea or active or residual acne: it helps soothe inflammation, refines skin texture, and controls excess sebum. We incorporate it into broader treatment protocols, combining it with lasers and our specific protocols for rosacea and acne.

How often is the treatment repeated?

The duration of the effects of neuromodulators varies depending on the area, the dose, and your metabolism, but generally lasts between 3 and 5 months. Over time, many patients space out their sessions because the treated muscle tends to gradually lose strength. At Skin Laundry, we work with you to design the most efficient maintenance schedule so that the results last without the need for over-treatment.

GLOWTOX

Inspired by the “glass skin” effect that’s so sought after in Korean skincare, GLOWTOX combines a cocktail of vitamins with microdoses of a neuromodulator in a single session. The result is smoother, more radiant skin with refined pores, without losing any of its natural look or expressiveness.
